How a Skill Training Program Gave Rehana Her Independence

Rehana was 20 and shy when she joined VIHAAN's skill training program, facing constant discouragement from neighbors who said it was pointless. Today, she earns ₹17,500 a month and is able to support her family.

At the age of 20, Rehana made a big decision that would end up changing her life. She decided to join VIHAAN's skill training programme. To her, a shy young woman, this was an important step towards financial independence.

Although her family always believed in her, their neighbors didn't. They taunted Rehana's family, telling them that joining such a training programme was a waste of time.

The negative input was constant and Rehana felt a lot of pressure. But her family stood firmly by her side, refusing to let outside voices diminish her potential. Their support gave Rehana the confidence to enroll and stay committed to the training.

In the early days of the programme, Rehana was quiet and hesitant. She struggled with communication and lacked confidence in speaking up.

But she did what was most important: she always showed up. She participated in group activities, pushing herself outside her comfort zone. Training by training, her self-assurance grew a little and she started speaking more each time. You could see her determination and motivation to do well and learn.

While there were times when she lost hope, influenced by the discouragement of her neighbors, in the end she always came back. Even though she had people around her telling her it would not lead anywhere, she also had family members and the VIHAAN team who helped her stay hopeful.

Today, Rehana is employed, earning ₹17,500 per month. Through this, she has been able to help support her family and has gained financial independence.

When her sister was hospitalized, Rehana paid for all of the medical expenses herself.

Rehana's journey to becoming a financially independent, confident young woman is a testament to how taking control of your own life through learning a new skill can transform and empower young women.
