From Dropout to Dreamer: A Child’s Journey Back to Education

After dropping out of school due to financial hardship and migration-related challenges, a Ayesha found hope through the support of Vihaan NGO. With guidance, education, and care, she regained confidence, returned to school, and began building a brighter

At just eight years old, Ayesha’s future had already begun to drift away from education. Coming from a migrant family struggling with poverty, she lived with her parents and siblings in a small rented home where financial instability was a constant challenge. Her father worked as a driver but was unable to provide regular support to the family, while her mother worked long hours in housekeeping to take care of the children.

Over time, education became difficult to sustain for the family. Ayesha’s elder sisters had already dropped out of school at a young age, and after the family returned from their native village in 2025, Ayesha’s own name had been removed from the school register. Despite her mother’s repeated attempts, she was unable to secure admission for her daughter again.

When Ayesha joined the learning centre supported by Vihaan NGO in February 2026, she could not read or write properly and had lost confidence in her ability to learn. Through consistent support, guidance, and care provided at the centre, she slowly began rebuilding her confidence and academic skills. Within a few months, Ayesha learned to read Hindi words, improved her basic mathematics skills, and became confident in addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables. Most importantly, she rediscovered her enthusiasm for learning and attending classes regularly.

On 16th April 2026, with the support and intervention of Vihaan NGO, Ayesha was successfully admitted into the 4th grade of a government school. Today, she attends school regularly with excitement and hope for a brighter future. Her family is deeply grateful to Vihaan for helping their daughter continue her education and dream beyond her circumstances.

For Ayesha, returning to school was more than just restarting her education, it was the beginning of a new chapter filled with confidence, opportunity, and hope
